I don’t know from when I also fell into the photo world. I started with my Canon 450D and always wanted to get better gear and take better photo. I have been taking some photos since I started going out with Only Model Management. They brought me to some events who I have a chance to take close photo for some Hong Kong celebrities and some pretty models. Now I am a part time photographer for The One Magazine. I will put up some of the photos I took in my blog.

A Good online store for Camera related stuff!

Recently, I was doing some online searching about camera stuff. I came across an online store which I would like to recommend!

The online store address is http://www.itsmything.com.au/. If you look at the price and the free shipping offer and compare to eBay. You will find that the price that It’s My Thing offer is more reasonable.

If you are looking for camera stuff, gopro, etc. I highly recommend you buy it from there!

I have just bought my GOPRO Hero 3 Black edition from there!

Lightroom 4 workshop

I went to a Lightroom 4 Workshop for 2 days and learned something new. Now I know how to apply the filter to bring some light back in some of the area in a photo!

I have brought my camera with me during last month business trip to Tasmania. I went to a few beautiful place in Tasmania – Mt Field National Park, Mt Wellington, Scotts Peak Dam, Lake Peddy, Lake Gordon, Lake Gordon Dam, etc.

I have updated my photo blog on http://photo.howardtang.com with some of the photos I took while I was in Tasmania. Welcome to make comments to the photo and rate them 🙂

My New Photo Album

I have been looking for a way to share some of the photos I have taken and allowing people to see them, rate them and make comment on them. Finally, I found a WordPress Theme to do that and I have created an online album to put not only my photos but also my friend’s photo online. For people from different part of the world to allow to rate and make comment on them.

A bad comment received about some of the photos I posted

Photography is my hobby. I recently received a comment on my blog saying that my photos are bad and pretent to be a professional photographer. I can tell you I am not a professional. Taking photo is just my hobby. There are people think my photos are good and of course there are people think my photos are bad. Photography is like art, different people holds different views. If you don’t like my photos, you can close the page or skip this page. No need to make a comment “Asians that have a professional camera thinks they are professional, and they don’t even hold the camera right”. Nowadays, technology makes life easier. Even a 3 years old kid can press a button to take a photo. He may take a very good photo by just one click without knowing what photographic is.

Photographer need a good Monitor?

I was talking to my photography teacher Felix Kwan about getting a new monitor for my Hackintosh. I am using a 5 years old LCD monitor, the colour is a bit funny + it is only a 15″ monitor. I think it is time for an upgrade. I looked at the market, a normal LCD is only around AUD$2xx. So I asked him what he will suggest to get a monitor for photography need. He suggested me to buy a monitor that uses IPS panel. After doing some research, IPS Panel provides the best colour – well, the best always the most expensive. Looking at 24″ LCD monitor, it is asking for AUD$649 (DELL U2410) if you want a bigger one 27″ DELL U2711 which is AUD$799. It is more than a double of a normal TN Panel monitor. Now the question is….. how good is IPS Panel?

Quoted from Dell web site (for U2410):
•Exceptional Screen Performance: Enjoy 1920×1200 maximum resolution, 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio and 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
•Vibrant, Accurate Color: PremierColor technology delivers color depth of 1.07 billion and 110% color gamut (typical)1
•Superb User Experience: Advanced digital connectivity, intuitive controls and ergonomic design for enhanced viewing comfort

Before I heard/knew about what IPS Panel is, I always think that Apple’s Monitor shows better pictures. The colour of the Apple’s monitor looks richer (and at the same time they sell very expensive as well). After doing some more research, and I realise Apple’s Monitors are using IPS panel as well.

Apple 27″ Monitor – AUD$1299
Dell 27″ Monitor – AUD$799

Why would I pay more for Apple than? looking at the Tech info, respond time from Apple Monitor is 12ms while Dell only 6ms. So I am targeting a Dell monitor now, with the discount I have, I can get a brand new U2711 for $719.1 shipped. Now it is time for me to save up some money for the big screen!
